Ministry to Give Klang Tourism Boost.

KLANG: 2008 - The Tourism Ministry is looking into new ways to make the royal town of Klang more attractive to tourists. Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the ministry has directed state tourism department officers to update information on the district's attractions. |

“We are looking at organising a familiarisation tour for foreign journalists to our tourism attractions so they can see what we have to offer,” she said after visiting the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery here yesterday. |

Azalina said one of the main attractions in Klang was the royal gallery, which offered a glimpse into the history and heritage of the Selangor sultanate and the late Sultan of Selangor Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah. |

She said the gallery, located in the 99-year-old Sultan Suleiman building, would be an interesting place for foreign tourists to visit. She added, however, that more efforts, like introducing better tourism packages, were needed to bring in tourists. |

“The gallery is a one of its kind but it can’t stand on its own. Many tourists will not travel to see just one place. Therefore, we are discussing a better strategy,” she said, adding that tours could be linked to other attractions such as the Istana Alam Shah. |
